Adi Badri is noted for the remains of 16 small temples, found on the way to
Ranikhet from
Karnaprayag. Seven of these temples belong to the late
Gupta period. It is believed that
Adi Guru Shankaracharya had initiated the construction of these temples. The main temple of Narayan is distinguished by a raised platform in the pyramidal form, where the black stone idol of
lord Vishnu is enshrined.

By road, Adi Badri can be approached from Kamaprayag, 19 km, which is connected with Ranikhet, Nainital and Ramnagar.
