Aandarkuppam Temple



Aandarkuppam Temple is located near Ponneri, north of Chennai. The temple is dedicated to Lord Muruga. The deity is enshrined in the pose of punishing Brahma the creator for his ignorance. The temple has a five-tiered Rajagopuram. The specialty of the temple is that the deity is worshipped in three forms - in Balaroopam (child) in the mornings, Youvanaroopam (youth) in the afternoons and Vriddha (old age) in the evenings. The temple also has shrines for Viswanathar, Visalakshi, Natarajar and Vinayakar. The main festival celebrated here is the Arunagirinathar festival in the month of Aani (June-July) on the day of Bharani Asterism. Others include Skanda Sashti, Tai Poosam and Karthigai.
