Aanakulangara Bhagavathy Temple




One of the oldest temples in Kerala, Aanakulangara Bhagavathy Temple is at Arunapuram near Pala in Kottayam District. It was built by Vellala community, who migrated to Malanadu of Kerala from different parts of Tamil Nadu.

The idol worshipped here is believed to be that of Kannaki of Shilappadikaram celebrity. Every year the temple holds a big festival, which attracts devotees from far-off places.

By road, the temple is easily accessible from Pala. The nearest railhead is Kottayam Railway Station.
