Vaikunthapur

Vaikunthapur or Narayana Pitha is a town located on the northwestern boundary of Modadrumdvip, Nadia District. The place is famous for the abode of Lord Narayana. It is also the birth place of Lakshmi Priya, the wife of Lord Chaitanya. Traditional story says that once sage Narada went to Vaikuntha for paying respects to Lord Narayana and Lakshmi Devi, but could not see them. He came to know that they had gone to Bhuloka in Navadvipa and taken the form of Lord Chaitanya and Lakshmi Priya. Narada took the form of Srivasa Pandita and went to see the lord. The place where Narada Muni saw Lord Narayana is known as Vaikunthapur.
