Summand Lake

Sumendu Lake

Summand is a beautiful man-made lake located in Mirik city. Spanning a length of 1.25 km, it is one of the popular picnic spots in Darjeeling. There are facilities for fishing and boating. Main attraction is a 80 ft long arched over-bridge. The forest located on the western bank provides opportunities for long, pleasant walks.

Another significance of Summand is the floating fountain in the middle of the lake. There is also an old-fashioned little footbridge connecting the flower garden on the eastern bank to the heavily forested ridge on the west. Rai Dhap, Rameetay Dara and Deosi Dara are nearby attractions.

Summand can be approached from Darjeeling (49 km) on the way to Siliguri. The nearest railhead is at Ghoom (41 km).
