Raniganj




Raniganj is a town situated in the north-western part of Bardhaman District, West Bengal. It is famous for coalfields. Raniganj Coalfield is the birth place of coal mining in India. The iron and steel industries of Durgapur and Asansol are operating based on these coalfields.

Asansol is a major industrial town nearby (18 km). Raniganj railway station is on the Howrah - Asansol line of the Eastern Railway and about 200 km west of Kolkata.
