Devanandapur




Devanandapur, in Hooghly District, about 5 km from Bandel station, is the birth place of litterateur Sarat Chandra Chatterjee. A museum at Devanandapur displays the personal belongings of this literary genius and houses his library. Devanandapur boasts four 'Atchala' temples of the 19th century. At the time of the Mughals, Devanandapur was one of the seven important villages called 'Sapta Gram'.

Devanandapur can be accessed by bus or train. Those who prefer train can reach here by Bandel local from Howrah Station, get down at the Bandel station and then take a rickshaw.
