Garbeta

Garbeta is a large village located about 52 km north of Midnapore town. In early times it was the capital of Bagri Rajas. The village is associated with king Vikramaditya and got its name from the words 'Tal' and 'Betal.' There still exists the remains of an old fort and its massive gateways. Several temples are there in Garbeta, among these the temple of Sarva Mangala is the most impressive, with its door facing the north.
