Malda



Malda is located to the east of the confluence of the Mahananda and Kalindri rivers in Malda District. In early times, Malda was famous for its cotton and silk industries. Today, it is a major agricultural distributing center for rice, jute, and wheat.

In and around the town, there are so many interesting places which include the museum, Jami Masjid and the Nimasari tower across the river.

Nearest attractions include Gaur and Pandua, which are about 16 km south and 18 km north of Malda respectively.

The town is well connected to other important cities and towns by road and rail. There is also a seasonal airport at Malda. Nearest international airport is at Kolkata, about 340 km from here.
