Kali Puja

Kali Puja, sacred to Goddess Kali, is performed to lessen the ego and negative tendencies that block the spiritual and material progress. It is performed on the sleepless night of Kartik Amavasya (October-November). This puja is done to obtain protection against drought and war, and for general happiness, health, wealth and peace. Kali Puja co-occurs with Diwali, the festival of lights, and the west Indian new year.
