Energy Education Park

Energy Education Park (EE Park) is situated on the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass near the Science City in Kolkata. Spread over an area of two acres, it was built by the West Bengal Renewable Energy Development (WEBRED) for mass education and general awareness.

The chief aim of the park is to provide basic knowledge of ‘renewable energy’ to the people, particularly to children. The visitors can observe various interactive and working models based on ‘renewable energy’ sources here. Working models include a solar water heater, biomass gasifer plant, wind energy generator, energy library, micro hydro power plant and global energy network model.

The visitors can also hire a cottage, which is equipped with light, fan, refrigerator, television and computer, all are driven by solar energy. Guests can also enjoy a delicious solar cooked food, with the help of solar cookers, at the solar restaurant. A permanent exhibition describing the chronological evolution of energy, a solar car ride, an energy matching game and a gift shop add to its charm.

The park is open from 11:00 to 19:00 hrs except on Fridays. The entry fee is Rs 5 per person and Rs 3 for students up to the age of 16 years. The rent of the cottage is Rs 100 per hour.
