Kurseong




Kurseong, located 50 km from Siliguri and 30 km from Darjeeling, is a scenic hill town at an altitude of 2,458 m. Often referred to as ‘Botanists Paradise,’ Kurseong is blessed with a variety of orchids.

The trek up to Eagle’s Crag with views of the Teesta River can be enjoyed. There are several temples, prominent being Ambotika Shiva Mandir and Giddhapahar Mandir. Other landmarks are Kettle Valley, Dilaram Tea Estate, Deer Park and the forest museum at the Dowhill. The toy train that runs through the market place between Darjeeling and New Jalpaiguri offers great entertainment for kids.

Though Kurseong has modest temperature all year round, the best time to visit is from October to June. An array of accommodation facility is available nearby. The tourist offices run by West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation meet tourists’ needs. Bagdogra, at a distance of 61 km is the nearest airport and closest railhead is in New Jalpaiguri Junction, which is 96 km away.
