Kenduli




Kenduli is situated about 30 km from Shantiniketan, in Birbhum District of West Bengal. It is famous as the birth place of the 12th century Sanskrit poet Jayadeva, who composed the well known Sanskrit lyrical poem 'Gita Govinda'.

The 10 to 15 days long annual fair held here on Makar Sankranti (mid-January) draws thousands of people from far and near. Baul songs are the principal attraction of the mela.
