Kanchrapara




Kanchrapara Town is situated just east of the Hooghly River, in North 24 Parganas District, West Bengal. Kanchrapara is famous for being home to one of the largest railway workshops in India. Jute milling is the major industry. Kanchrapara is about 60 km north of Kolkata.

Krishna-Raya Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna, is another point of attraction.

Kanchrapara has its own railhead.
