Siliguri




Siliguri, located in Darjeeling District, is an important transportation hub of North Bengal. Siliguri is an important launching place for the tourists to explore Sikkim and other northeastern states. The city is also the gateway to Bhutan through the Dooars. Direct road connection to Bhutan and Nepal has made Siliguri a busy international trade center.

Siliguri is an ideal modern city with beautiful natural surroundings. The Mahananda River and Balasan River flow through the place. The city offers a perfect view of Mount Kunchenjungha. The Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary is 18 km from the city. Shorea-forest recreation center, Sevok Coronation Bridge, Madhuban Nature Park, Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary and Panighata are some of the major tourist spots lying near to the city.

Siliguri is the junction of Northeast frontier railway zone. New Jalpaiguri, popularly known as NJP is the one of the most important rail station of northeast and is 4 km south of Siliguri. NJP is connected with direct trains to New Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai and Bangalore. Siliguri is 650 km north of Kolkata.
