Fraserganj

Fraserganj is a quaint fishing village 2 km from Bakkhali and a 3-hr drive from Kolkata in West Bengal. Originally called Narayanitala, the place was renamed after Andrew Fraser, who fell in love with it and tried his hand at converting this white sandy beach into an ideal sea resort. But the seaside town that he built, along with its famous sanatorium, shops and roads, were all washed away by the waves. In time, Fraserganj has been rebuilt and today it stands as an attractive fishing village and tourist spot. Fraserganj is famous for its migratory birds and pisciculture.
