Mornington Fort




Mornington Fort is situated at the confluence of the Bhagirathi and Rupnarayan Rivers in the village of Gadiara in Howrah District, 90 km from Kolkata. Built by Lord Clive, the then Governor General of British India during 1765-67, this massive fort was intended to guard the entry of ships. Today the fort is in a dilapidated state.
