Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park

Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park is situated at Jawahar Parbat, in Darjeeling, West Bengal. Established in 1958, the park is dedicated to Shrimati Padmaja Naidu, former Governor of West Bengal. It is regarded as the only zoo in the world to breed Tibetan Wolf in captivity and the first South Asian Zoo to breed Snow Leopard and Siberian Tiger.

Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoo is situated at an elevation of 2133.5 m against the visually stunning backdrop of the mighty Kanchenjunga. The park is a natural habitat for a variety of flora and fauna. Himalayan Black Bear, Deer and Red Panda are the major animal species found here. The park is also home to a large variety of bird species including the Himalayan Monal Pheasant.

Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park also aims to protect the rare and endangered wild animals.

Himalayan Mountaineering Institute is located adjacent to the zoo.

Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park is open from 08:00 to 16:00 hrs.
