Moti Jheel

Moti Jheel is a horseshoe shaped lake situated just a kilometer south of Lalbagh, in Murshidabad District of West Bengal. This beautiful lake was excavated by Nawazesh Mohammad, the husband of Ghasseti Begum.

The lake was once occupied by the East India Company; hence it is also famous as the ‘Company Bagh’. There is a palace adjoining the lake where Lord Clive celebrated the acquisition of the Dewani of Sube Bangla (Bengal, Bihar and Orissa) in 1765.

The mosque of Shahamat Jang and the Nawajesh Muhammad's Mosque are located nearby.
