Santhal Dance

Santhal Dance is a typical group dance performed by Santhal tribes in Jharkhand. The male dancers wear Dhoti and turban, and the items such as branches of trees, leaves and flowers are used to decorate the body.

This dance is primarily performed on special occasions, especially during Spring Festival, and accompanies a traditional song, which is unique in its music. Flutes, pipes, drums and cymbals are among the musical instruments used in course of the performance.

Santhal Dance takes after the bamboo folk dance of Assam and Mizoram.
