Halishahar



Halisahar, the former Kumarhata, is located in North 24 Parganas District of West Bengal. It is situated to the east of Hooghly River, a tributary of Ganges River. Halisahar is a noted home of Sanskrit scholars. It is the hometown of Ram Prasad, one of India’s greatest tantrik worshipper and a renowned poet.

Halisahar is also famous for the 2 ft high Ganesh image seated in Padmasana pose. The idol attracts thousands of devotees from far and near. There are also a few Vaishnava and Shiva temples. Shyama Sundari, Siddheswari, Rakshakali and Rudra Bhairavi temples are worth visiting.
