Sivananda Ashram is situated in the lap of the
Himalayas, on the banks of the river
Ganges. It was established in 1932 by Swami Sivananda with a motto of providing the spiritual practice of
sadhana for devotees. 'The Divine Life Society', the worldwide organization of spirituality, was established in 1936 and it has more than 300 branches worldwide.
Yoga-Vedanta Forest Academy, Sivananda Eye Hospital and Sivananda Ayurvedic Pharmacy function under the auspices of the ashram. Accommodation facilities are available for all pilgrims. The best season to visit the ashram is May-November.
Sivananda Ashram is located 3 km from Rishikesh, also called Sivanandanagar, in Tehri Garhwal District. The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport (40) at Dehradun. Rishikesh is well connected with other parts of the country by railways.
