Kausani




Kausani is a picturesque hill station known for its scenic splendor. Dubbed as the Switzerland of India, it offers a 300 km wide panoramic view of the Himalayas. One could catch the splendid sights of Trishul, Nanda Devi, and Pancha Chulli from this quaint town. The enchanting view of sunrise over the Himalayas is a priceless sight for any tourist.

Anashakti Yoga Ashram, where Mahatma Gandhi stayed in the year 1929, is located here. Lakshmi Ashram, where Sarla Bain, Gandhiji's disciple stayed doing social service, is 1 km from the Anashakti Ashram. 17 km from Kausani, is Baijnath. Here on the banks of the River Gomti is the ancient temple of Baijnath dedicated to Goddess Parvati. Another pilgrim spot is the Shiva temple at Someshwar which is 15 km from the town. The house where the renowned Hindu poet Sumitranandan Pant spent his childhood is now maintained as the Pant Museum, which is near the Kausani Bus station. Nearest airport to Kausani is at Pant Nagar. Nearest railway station is Kathgodam Railway Station, at a distance of 35 km.
