Lord Hanuman

A Hindu God

Lord Hanuman, the monkey God, is a noble hero and great devotee of Lord Ram of the Ramayana. He is a provider of courage, hope, knowledge, intellect, and devotion. Hanuman is often pictured as a robust monkey holding a mace (gada), the sign of bravery and having a picture of Lord Ram tattooed on his chest, which is a sign of his devotion to Lord Ram. Hanuman is popularly addressed as Anjaneya or Anjani, since he is the son of Anjana, once a celestial woman born into the monkey race due to a curse. Hanuman is also known by the names Mahavir, Pavan-suta, Maruti and Bajarangbali.
