Constructed by the King of Nepal in the year 1876
Vikram Samvat, Shri Pashupatinath Temple of
Haridwar enshrines a five faced statue of Pashupatinath on the top of which there is a cover made of 1.25 lakh Rudraksh seeds. Built in Rajasthani style, the temple is located inside the Shravannath Monastery at the fruit market crossing of
Moti Bazaar. The statue of
Nandi is placed in front of the temple. There are two big bells, brought from Nepal, hanging in front of the temple on either side. A huge exhibition is held every year on the day of
Janmashtami. It also houses a huge, old library. Nearby is a beautiful temple of Pataleswar Mahadev.
