Chamoli




Chamoli, an ancient small and hilly town, is situated on the left bank of Alaknanda River on the way to Badrinath in Uttaranchal. It is 10 km from Nanda Prayag and 10 km from Gopeshwar. Dehradun is around 330 km west of Chamoli.

Important tourist destinations are Auli, Badrinath, Charanpaduka, Gopeshwar, Hemkund Sahib, Joshimath and Nanda Devi National Park. Triyugi Narayan Temple, Yamunotri Temple and Yogadhyan Badri Temple are the renowned temples in and around Chamoli.

The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport, 221 km, and the nearest railway station is at Rishikesh. National Highway 58 passes through Chamoli and is well connected by road to Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Nainital, and Almora.
