Deoprayag is a well-known pilgrimage center 71 km from
Rishikesh. It is situated at the confluence of two rivers, the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi. The River
Ganges is believed to originate here. According to myths, Deoprayag is the site where
Lord Ram and his father King Dasaratha did ritual penance. The famous Raghunathji and Shiva temples are situated here. Raghunathji temple houses a tall idol of Lord Ram made of black granite. The place also has a small temple known as Bharat Mandir of Rishikesh.
