Chilla Wildlife Sanctuary



Chilla Wildlife Sanctuary lies on the east bank of the Ganges River near Haridwar. It is a part of the Rajaji National Park and covers an area of about 240 sq km.

The sanctuary is home to elephants, tigers, leopards, jungle cats, Himalayan yellow throated martens, sambar deer, chital, barking deer, wild boars, langurs, ghurals, sloth bears, king cobras and woodpeckers. Fishing in the river is allowed with permission.

The best time to visit is November to mid-June.
