Chithai Temple

Located about six kilometers from Almora, Chithai Temple is dedicated to the local tribal deity, Golu. It is a highly revered shrine for the people of Almora and neighboring villages and towns. The temple looks like a court. The temple walls are covered with court stamp papers, pasted by those who have not been able to get justice at the legal courts. The deity receives several pleas from the distressed everyday. One can also see hundreds of bells hanging around the temple. These have been donated by those people whose wishes have been fulfilled at this temple. Pant Nagar Airport is the nearest airbase. Kathgodam Railway Station is the nearest railhead. The best time to visit this temple is between May and October.
