Nirvana Temple




Nirvana Temple is a highly revered shrine situated at Kushinagar, in Uttar Pradesh. The temple enshrines a 6 m long statue of reclining Buddha. The statue beautifully carved on Chunar sandstone depicts the dying Buddha reclining on his right side. The image was unearthed during the excavations done in 1876. An inscription found on the temple dates back to 5th century AD.
