The district of Shravasti lies on the north-eastern side of Uttar Pradesh

Shravasti is a holy place for both Buddhists and Jains. In early times, it was known as Mahid or Sahet-Mahet.
Sobhanath temple situated here is believed to be the birthplace of Jain Tirthankar Sambhavnath.
