India is the largest brass-making country in the world. This art has been practiced in India for over 5 million years. Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh is famous for its hand engraved brass. Craftsmen of Jaipur make delicately engraved brassware articles such as lamps, bowls, and picture framers. They use enamel to highlight their colorful designs. The brass work done in Ladakh is also famous. Craftsmen of this region make decorative brass stoves by hand and combine brass with silver and copper to create attractive and useful items.
