Narora Atomic Power Station




Narora Atomic Power Station is under the control of Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL). Its foundation stone was laid in 1974 and power generation was started in 1991. This pressurized heavy water reactor generates about 440 KW of power daily and feeds it to the northern power grid. The plant is designed to operate in a silent and eco-friendly manner. Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) awarded the prestigious ISO-14001 certification for its concern for environment. Narora uses natural uranium as fuel, heavy water as moderator and fas as coolant.
