Munj

Located in Etawah District, Munj is an ancient town on a mound about 23 km north-east of Etawah, close to Etawah-Farrukhabad Road. It is also known as Chaubia.

Munj was the erstwhile kingdom of Muratdhvaj. It is believed to be the site of a fight mentioned in the Mahabharata when Muratdhvaj, with his two sons, fought with Yudishtira. The position of the great gateway of Muratdhvaj’s castle, with the traces of two great bastions on either side is still here.

Munj is well connected by road with Kurra Jarawan, Kishni, Usrahar, Sarai Ekdil and Bharthana. Etawah Railway Station and C A Kanpur Airport are the nearest access points.
