Bhuteshwar Mahadev Temple




Bhuteshwar Mahadev Temple is located in the holy town of Mathura in Uttar Pradesh. The presiding deity is Lord Shiva. He is referred by the name Bhuteshwar Mahadev.

This is one of the oldest temples in the town. The temple faces towards the east. The sanctum sanctorum measures about 100 sq m in area.

Mathura, being the birthplace of Lord Krishna, predominantly contains Vaishnavite temples. Of the few Shaivite temples located in this town, Bhuteshwar Mahadev Temple is an important one. The other important Shiva temples are Gokarneshwar Temple, Rangeshwar Mahadev Temple and Pipaleshwar Mahadev Temple.
