A town of considerable historical significance, Tappal, sometimes spelt Tapal, lies in the north-western part of Aligarh District. This town, close to the border of Faridabad District in Haryana, is about 52 km from Faridabad, 60 km from Aligarh and 75 km from Delhi.

Tappal has some monuments of historical importance. Among these, a monument near the old fort and a tomb of Thomson Simpson, which are under the purview of the Directorate of Archeology, Uttar Pradesh, are the most significant.

Nearby towns of Tappal are Jewar, Hasanpur and Fatehpur. Somna Railway Station and Agra Civil Enclaves are the railway station and airport serving this region.
