Kathak Dance




Kathak is one of the most popular classical dance forms in India. Having originated in the Indo-Gangetic Plain of Uttar Pradesh, Kathak Dance was developed at Varanasi, Allahabad, Lucknow and Jaipur. Wajid Ali Shah, the last ruler of Lucknow, is credited of developing the dance style. Birju Maharaj and Sitara Devi are two prominent contemporary performers of this dance form. Kathak Kendra at Delhi is one of the premier institutions imparting training in Kathak.
