Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur is located on the
Grand Trunk Road, 15 km west of
Kanpur.
This is an institute of national importance with nine engineering departments, along with individual departments for physics, chemistry, mathematics and humanities. Besides, it has 5 centers and 5 inter-disciplinary programs. Most of the engineering departments offer BTech, MTech and PhD degrees. The inter-disciplinary programmes also offer MTech and PhD whereas the science departments offer MSc and PhD. The humanities and social science department offers PhD. The institute also involves in Continuing Education and Research and Development.
