Allahabad District in Uttar Pradesh is situated at the confluence of three rivers - Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati. The meeting point is known as Triveni Sangam which is sacred to the Hindus. The ancient name of Allahabad is Prayag. It is believed that all sins are purged with one's entry into Prayag. Allahabad is one of the historically important districts of India with a glorious past and present. A land of mixed culture of the Hindus, Muslims, Jains and Christians, Allahabad is a colourful place.

The best time to visit Allahabad is between October and March. Summers are very hot with temperatures rising up to 46°C. But during winter, the maximum is 25°C, and minimum is around 10°C.

The various small and large-scale industries play a great role in boosting the economy of the district. ITI Naini, Raymond Synthetics Karchana, Hindustan Cable Ltd Naini, Triveni Sheet Glass Ltd Naini, IFFCO Phulpur, and GEEP Industries are the major industries in Allahabad. Harish Chandra Mehta Atomic Research Center and Civil Aviation Training Center are also located here.

Allahabad Fort, Hanuman Mandir, Ashoka Pillar, Alope Devi Mandir, Nagvasuki Temple, Patalpuri Temple, Swaraj Bhawan and Akshaya Vat are some of the interesting places to visit. Kumbh Mela of Allahabad is a great event held every twelve years on the banks of the 'Sangam', which is the confluence of the holy rivers Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati.

The district capital Allahabad has direct rail connections with important cities such as Kolkata, Delhi, Patna, Guwahati, Chennai, Mumbai, Gwalior, Meerut, Lucknow, Kanpur and Varanasi.
