Indo-Gangetic Plain



The Indo-Gangetic Plain is known throughout the world for its fertility. It is 2,414 km long and 321 km broad alluvial crescent stretching from the Indus River system in Pakistan, covering the plains of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal till the delta of Ganges River in Bangladesh. It is one of the most densely populated areas of the world. Since time immemorial the Indo-Gangetic Plain has been the cradle of culture and civilization and the battle ground of kingdoms and dynasties.
