Gonda




Gonda, the administrative headquarters of Gonda District, is situated 110 km northeast of Lucknow, on the Sarayu River. It is a major trade center for agricultural products in Uttar Pradesh. Ayodhya is 50 km southeast of Gonda.

Gonda was founded in the 16th century by Rajput Man Singh. Rice and sugar milling constitute the principal industries. Grains, oilseeds, and sugarcane are cultivated in the city outskirts.

Devi Patan, 70 km from Gonda, is a famous pilgrim center.

The nearest airport is at Lucknow. Gonda Railway Station is on the Lucknow- Gorakhpur line.
