Dewa

Dewa is a pilgrim spot in Bara-Banki District of Uttar Pradesh. It is the birth place of Haji Waris Ali Shah, a great Sufi saint. A magnificent tomb has been erected to mark the spot of his burial.

A major draw is Dewa Mela, a 10-day fair, held here to commemorate Haji Waris Ali Shah and his father Qurban Ali Shah. Cultural programs such as Kavi Sammelan and music conference are organized on this occasion. This fair culminates with a brilliant display of fire works.

Dewa is 12 km south of Barabanki. Fatehpur to the north, Bindaura to the east and Kheoli to the west are the other nearby places. The nearest airport is at Lucknow, 42 km away. Barabanki Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
