Barua Sagar

Barua Sagar is a historical place located about 25 km from Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh. It was named after a large lake, called Barua Sagar Tal. This lake was formed over 260 years ago when Raja Udit Sngh of Orchha built an embankment. There are ruins of two old Chandela temples to the north-east of the lake. The older one, made of granite, is called Ghughua Math and the other one is a later Gupta period temple known as Jarai-Ka-Math. The place is rich in natural beauty, with farmlands and unbroken stretches of woods. It is an ideal place for water sports.
