Zardosi

Zardosi is a unique and elaborate form of embroidery done on heavy silks, satin, and velvet. This rich, heavy work that dates back to the Mughal era can be done on heavy coats, cushions, curtains, animal trappings, canopies, shoes and so on. Gold thread, zari, stones, sequins, and mirrors such as Salma Sitara, Badla, and Seed Pearls are used for adornment. This embroidery is popular all over India, and especially in the north.
