Amethi




Amethi is situated on the Rae Bareli-Sultanpur road and is 40 km southwest of Sultanpur. The place assumed prominence as the parliamentary seat of the first Prime Minister and architect of modern India, Shri Jawaharlal Nehru. Indira Gandhi and her son Rajiv Gandhi later represented Amethi in the Lok Sabha.

Hanumangarhi temple, a hundred-year-old mosque, tomb of Saint Malik Muhammad Jaisi and an old fort built by the Bachghoti Rajas are points of tourist interest in the vicinity.

A branch of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is situated at Amethi.

Amethi railway station is on the Bela - Rae Bareli line.
