Hathi Pol

Hathi Pol or Elephant Gate is the inner entrance of Delhi Gate, the main entrance of the Agra fort.

The entrance was adorned with two life size sculptures of elephants with raised trunks making an archway. Because of these sculptures, the gate got its name Hathi Pol. At present, the gate is left only with pedestals.

The gate is also protected by two beautifully designed and ornamented octagonal and double-storeyed bastions. Each bastion is crowned by an elegant chhatri and has a battlemented parapet. The entrance is very spacious enough to contain series of living rooms, verandahs and pavilions.
