Goddess Mangalchandi

Chandi is an embodiment of Goddess Durga. Mangalchandi, Devichandi, Jaychandi, Olaichandi, Kuluichandi, and Chelaichandi are the different Chandis.

Mangalchandi, soft and benevolent in form, is an eight-headed goddess. The vehicle of Mangalchandi is a local lizard. Chandimangal is the Mangalkavya or sacred recital regarding this cult. One of the Shaktipithas of Goddess Parvati in Ujjain is honored with the deity of Mangalchandi. Mangalchandi is also worshiped widely in South India, especially in Andhra Pradesh.
