Sri Varahaswami Temple

Sri Varahaswami Temple in Tirupati lies to the north of the Sri Venkateswara Temple, on the banks of Swami Pushkarini. The presiding deity is Varaha Swami who is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu in the form of a boar.

Legend says that Tirumala was originally the home of Varahaswami and it was with his permission that Lord Sri Venkateshwara stayed here. It is said that Naivedyam (sacred offering of food to Lord) should first be offered to Sri Varahaswami and the pilgrims should first visit Sri Varahaswami temple before visiting Sri Venkateswara Temple.
