Valinokkam




Valinokkam is a small fishing town in Ramanathapuram District, at around 50 km south-west of Ramanathapuram. This scenic coastal place is known for the Valinokkam Port - a customs port for the purpose of unloading of ships. The beach here is calm and verdant and is ideal for swimming. Prawn monoculture ponds are seen here. Also, salt manufacturing is done along the coast.

The Muslim pilgrim center of Erwadi lies close to Valinokkam. Uthirakosamangai is a nearby sacred place for Hindus. Chitrangudi Bird Sanctuary and Adi Jagannatha Temple at Tirupullani are the tourist spots in the neighborhood.

Sikkal (7 km), Kilakarai (16 km) and Kadaladi (19 km) are the nearby towns.

Tuticorin Airport (83 km south-west) and Madurai Airport (94 km north-west) serve the town. Ramanathapuram Railway Station is the nearest railway station.
