Anna Salai




Anna Salai, earlier known as Mount Road, is a 6 lane road that runs through the heart of Chennai. 'Salai' means road in Tamil and this 18 km road runs upto Tambaram. It houses a host of travel agencies, restaurants, handicraft emporiums, hotels and the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation. Belgium, Canada, Finland and US have their consulates on this road. Sun TV studio, a popular private Channel of South India, is located on this road.

Historical monuments such as Ishtalingeswara Temple, Christ Church, St George's Cathedral, Admiralty House - the first home of Robert Clive and his bride in 1753, Rajaji Hall - an 1802 building, and Old Government House - originally the residence of Luis de Madeiros, a Portuguese are located here.
